Building Hope Building Commitment (BHBC) is a community-based nonprofit serving the Charlotte Metro area and focused on preventing homelessness, strengthening housing retention, and reducing housing instability through the Retention-Centered Stabilization Model™ (RCSM).
BHBC collaborates with community members, landlords, faith-based organizations, and local government partners to secure safe, appropriate, and sustainable housing solutions for individuals and families facing housing insecurity. We recognize that housing access alone is not enough. Many households remain vulnerable after placement and require structured support, accountability, and coordinated intervention to maintain stability over time.
Through the Retention-Centered Stabilization Model™, BHBC helps individuals and families obtain housing, maintain housing, and reduce returns to homelessness. Our work is designed not only to support tenants, but also to create stronger outcomes for landlords, property partners, and communities seeking practical solutions to housing instability.
The Retention-Centered Stabilization Model™ (RCSM) is BHBC’s structured housing stabilization framework designed to improve long-term housing retention through early intervention, participant accountability, landlord engagement, supportive service coordination, and progression toward self-sufficiency.
Rather than functioning as a traditional property management company, BHBC operates as a retention-focused housing support partner within community-based and partner-owned housing environments. We work with participants who are committed to housing stability and provide the structure and support necessary to help them succeed in housing.
Services offered through the Retention-Centered Stabilization Model™ may include:
Our team remains actively engaged through structured check-ins, crisis response, progress tracking, and retention-focused support designed to prevent avoidable housing loss. When a participant is no longer aligned with the expectations of the program, BHBC works to coordinate an appropriate transition plan and support a better-aligned housing pathway where possible.
To sustain this level of support and impact, BHBC invites property and community partners into a service relationship supported through a 10% monthly member fee based on the unit’s rental value. This fee supports the coordination, stabilization infrastructure, and service delivery required to operate the Retention-Centered Stabilization Model™ effectively within partner housing environments.
This partnership structure allows landlords and community stakeholders to invest in measurable housing retention outcomes while receiving consistent support from a mission-aligned stabilization provider.
For partners seeking a more engaged housing stabilization model, BHBC offers program-based housing support through the Retention-Centered Stabilization Model™. This approach is designed for properties and partners who want more than tenant placement alone and understand the value of retention-centered services.
Under this model, BHBC provides a structured service package that may include:
This model is designed to reduce turnover, minimize preventable housing disruptions, strengthen tenant outcomes, and support a more stable housing environment for all parties involved.
For landlords and property owners who prefer to maintain full autonomy over property operations but want support identifying housing-ready tenants, BHBC offers a Placement-Only Service.
For a one-time fee, BHBC provides a tenant profile package that may include verified documentation, housing history, income information, and relevant support system details to help landlords make informed leasing decisions.
Under this option, BHBC does not provide ongoing stabilization services, retention monitoring, or outcome guarantees. However, we remain committed to connecting property partners with individuals who demonstrate readiness for housing and a commitment to stability.
This option is ideal for property owners who want to support community housing solutions while maintaining direct control over day-to-day property management.
The Retention-Centered Stabilization Model™ was built on a simple truth: housing placement without retention infrastructure is not enough. Sustainable housing outcomes require more than access. They require coordinated support, clear expectations, responsive communication, and a framework built to protect housing once it is obtained. BHBC exists to provide that framework.
